Description
Wild Strawberry (Fragaria vesca)
Wild Strawberry is a low-growing perennial of clearings and woodland edges. Its beautiful white flowers give way in late spring to tart, delicious, red fruit throughout the summer. This plant has several traditional uses including its use as a stain to colour lips and cheeks. It grows from 5 to 10cm tall.
Sowing: Can be sown at any time of year, but best in early autumn or in spring. Sow in trays or pots of moist compost and transplant to a well-drained, lightly shaded or open site, or scatter the seed directly onto a fine-raked seed bed and firm down well. Keep young plants watered & weeded.
200-400 seeds per packet.
