Description
Bladder Campion (Silene vulgaris)
This white campion species has has striking, white flowers held on deilcate stems above fleshy green leaves. It gets its name from its bladder shaped calyx (the structure below its petals) – a feature it shares with its close relative; Sea Campion. The bladders and fine stems give the impression of bubbles floating abovce the plant. As a wildflower happy in maritime conditions its is tolerant of salt spray and found in sunny, exposed places. It is taller than Sea Campion
