Description
Wild Marjoram (Origanum vulgare)
A scented herb, similar to the cultivated oregano used in cooking, found in the wild in lime-rich areas of Scotland. The pink flowers of this attractive perennial are a favourite of bumblebees & many other pollinators. Up to 60cm tall.
Sowing: sow at any time of year but best in early autumn or in spring. Sow in trays or pots of moist compost & transplant to a sunny, well drained site or scatter the seed directly onto a fine-raked seed bed, firming down well. Water well & keep young plants weeded.
